Writing a book had been on my bucket list for years. There comes a time, though, when you need to tick some of those things off.
So, in 2020, I sat down at the dining table with my old laptop and started writing. Yes—actual words!
Not necessarily in any logical order, but words nevertheless. Gobbledygook for the most part. So many things I wanted to write. But not even a genre to aim for. What use is that? I asked myself.
Come on, woman, pull yourself together!
I had a lightbulb moment. Romance... What if?... Right place, right time, kind of thing.
Things started to fall into place, and in August 2023, I published my debut novel, The Dreamcatcher Tattoo.
Under the Spotlight followed three months later. Then came Partly For Love, which took me a little longer to write because I had lots of research to do for that one.
These three books are in my Chapter and Verse series. They all have drama or suspense running alongside the love story. And humour. I try to put some merry quips in there too, wherever possible—especially in contrast to the darker parts (there are a few in TDT and PFL).
My fourth book, You Are My Sunshine, is a standalone. It's a second-chance romance, with both characters over 50. No suspense in this one, but there's humour for sure.
My latest book, Magnet Fishing with Layla Finch, is still a contemporary romance, but with a hint of the paranormal - something a little different.
I guess the running themes throughout all five books to date are coincidence and happy ever afters. I love a happy ever after, don't you?
